Riverfly Monitoring

The Cotswolds Rivers Trust is fully supportive of the Riverfly Monitoring programme, initiated and coordinated by the Riverfly Partnership. The Trust actively monitors several sites and conducts training sessions to onboard new citizen scientists.

The Riverfly Monitoring Initiative (RMI) offers a straightforward, standardised method for citizen scientists and groups to monitor river water quality and quickly identify significant disturbances. This initiative facilitates direct communication with local ecological contacts at the Environment Agency.

The RMI scheme enhances the monitoring of water quality, ensuring that issues are identified and addressed promptly.

Riverfly monitoring is conducted throughout the Cotswolds. If you are interested in learning more about riverflies or participating in this important monitoring initiative, please get in touch.
